What's on Oprah's Vision Board?

vision boardWhen Oprah flew me out to talk about pray rain journaling on her show earlier this year, I was surprised to hear she had never leveraged the power of her own vision board.
Almost everyone in her audience already had theirs up, but Oprah was brand new to the idea!  (Didn’t she see John Assaraf’s house story in The Secret?)
Anyway, knowing that she was new to the practice of vision boarding made me especially excited to hear that she was putting it into practice!  This from John Assaraf’s Blog:

Dreams do come true! Talk show star Oprah Winfrey revealed this week that she uses a vision board to visualize her goals and harness the power of intention. So what did Oprah have on her vision board? The gown she intended to wear to a very special event – the Obama inauguration.
Here’s what Oprah told a New York radio station on Tuesday:
“I was speaking with Michelle (Obama) and Caroline Kennedy and Maria Shriver – we were all doing a big rally out in California. At the end of the rally Michelle Obama said something powerful, ‘and I want you to leave here and envision Barack Obama taking the oath of office.’ I created a vision board. I had never had a vision board before. I came home, I got me a board and put Barack Obama’s picture on it and I put a picture of my dress I want to wear to the inauguration.”

Wait a minute!
What’s even MORE cool about this story?!  That our soon to be First Lady practices – and encourages others to practice – powerful visualizations!  Holy Hannah!
Anyone else got goose bumps??
So, everyone, what’s on YOUR vision board?

I have been working on a vision board. Hopefully I can make this kind of impression with mine! I do admire Oprah and also Michelle. It is amazing to have such strong women in the world!! Good luck Oprah with your new ventures in life!

Hi, I designed my first vision board in 2009 after attending a manifesting class and I was so excited that when things started to come true. This year I am designing a new one and now started to blog about it. What better way to put it out to the universe than the internet. Thanks for your blog. I wil be back. Lisa

  • I suspect you’ve got a fun 2010 ahead of you, Emma!! Kudos for having so much fun (and success) with your boards!

  • Emma Ward says:

    Wow…that is cool!
I have had great results with my vision boards. The problem is that now I am ‘thinking’ about HOW too much. When I first did one i though “What the heck I might as well give it a try!”. I had no resistance to it so that’s why it worked.
I need to try not to thinking about the practicalities of it.
My examples of vision board manifestations:
    *got taken to Paris
    *Better skin
*Attended a course I had NO idea how I would pay for and then someone offered me the £4000 I needed for it interest free.
*I told my sister to try it and she is now living in the house she had on her dream board even though at the time it wasn’t even up for sale!!!
*Tiffany jewellery for the first time in my life and I hadn’t even mentioned it (just put it on my board)
    Best one:
*I put Sydney harbour bridge on mine with firework over the top and I have just come back from Sydney because I was there for New Year. A 30th birthday present from my boyfriend!! How cool!!
*Got upgraded to business class too
I just love them and need to create one for 2010…I’m feeling inspired now. Thanks x

  • I like your method, Susan, of having smaller (more manageable) boards. While you’re using yours for different places, using them for different topics might be good some for folks, too.
Thanks for reading and for posting! 🙂

Yes! Awesome idea. I made TWO smaller (more manageable!) vision boards – one for my office and one for home. I found that using more pictures and less words worked the best for me. I’m also going to try to ‘change the landscape’ of the boards from time-to-time to keep them fresh.
For a little extra inspiration I went for some good-looking cork boards with neato frames on them that I picked out myself. (FWIW – http://www.wholesalecustomframe.com/ ).

  • Good for you, Brittany! Way to put your creative power to good use!! 🙂

  • Brittany says:

My sister first introduced me to this and it works! My board showed me getting admitted into law school and being happy. I’m thrilled to say that I’m two weeks from beginning at my dream school (with a substantial scholarship!) Thank you for providing such guidance, I’ll definitely be looking to you all the next 3 years!

  • I know, huh?! I feel like a kindred spirit with Michelle already! lol
Thanks for posting, Tiffany and Tami. Glad you enjoyed the info! 🙂

  • Tami says:

the fact that Michelle said that is what stood out in that story the most to me- very interesting indeed!

  • tiffany says:

OH MY GOSH!! I’m officially floored. I knew that this election was different; there was so much positive energy coming from all sides. WOOO! haha.

  • Tia – you’re funny! Andy beat you to it. lol
I’m glad everyone else is as getting a big a kick out of that as I am!
Seriously, I was astonished that Oprah hadn’t created or even HEARD of a vision board when Martha was showing hers. Oprah asked the audience if anyone else had one, and almost all of them did. (It was a very LOA savvy audience for the Secret follow up show taping.)
I’m SO glad to hear she was inspired to put it to good use when Michelle made that request! woo hoo!!
ha – as if there were a bad use for a vision board. lol

  • Tia says:

damn! my `puter froze and i wasnt number 3 after all! lol

  • Tia says:

Yep I got them just as you said the word goosebumps!! Although that cldve been the fact I`m sitting next to an open window with the draft coming in. No, I`ll stick with the first one!! WAY COOL and no wonder all of us (everyone that I know at least) was rooting for Obama – he and Michelle drew us in with their like attracts like energy. NO WONDER the world is so excited!!!!
I posted in at number 3 – love it, my lucky number!!

  • andy says:

    that’s cool!

  • stephen taylor says:

Thanks for posting this, Jeannette. It just made my day. (And I love Michelle and Barack!)

  • Kristy M says:

I LOVE Oprah! (…and Rachael Ray, the girl she helped in her career… we are almost the same person lol) and I love Obama :).. I truly believe that they will bring much needed change and visualization is the best way to start!
